They are Weak but He is Strong.

"But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong" (2 Corinthians 12: 9-10 NIV).This has always been one of my favorite verses. Coincidentally, it has been one of the hardest verses for me to follow and exemplify in my walk with Christ. If you are anything like me, then you may find it difficult to admit, let alone delight in your weaknesses! Having grown up in a culture that glorifies self-reliance, I am constantly surrounded by the lie that showing weakness is the absolute worst thing you can do. For most of my life, I have allowed that falsehood to creep into my head and fuel many of my decisions. I have let fear and insecurity keep me from countless opportunities to glorify Jesus.Recently, I found myself in a season of rejection. No matter what I did, every door of opportunity seemed to slam in my face. I was so discouraged! I found myself complaining to the Lord about my situation. I began to grow more and more frustrated with Him when I didn’t see immediate change. In the midst of my internal tantrums, I heard God’s voice.“My power is made perfect in weakness.”Here I was, chasing after perfection--something completely unattainable! I allowed myself to buy into the belief that my weaknesses should go unseen, and that that would somehow glorify God.Our God isn’t interested in perfection, but rather, in being glorified through our imperfections! What good is a perfect, unencumbered life if it doesn’t bring glory to God?Our seasons of hardship are there to remind us of Christ’s grace! For when we are weak, HE is strong. Our flaws reveal to us our need for a savior--our need for Jesus Christ! In moments of difficulty, remember what Christ has done for you and dwell in the peace that you don’t have to have it all figured out.We will go through all sorts of seasons, good and bad. It is how we choose to act in those seasons that matters most! We can let difficulties dictate our attitude and even our worship, or we can lay them at the cross and glorify Jesus, no matter the circumstance.words by Kendall Bolam and photo by Kiana Dundore
