Look Up.

Your eyes were opened this morning.Your lungs filled with fresh air and your heart propelled blood throughout every vessel in your very own body. Your muscles stirred, allowing you to get up and walk. Whether you realize it or not, that means God has a purpose for your day, He has a specific place or person that He needs you to breathe new life into today.I don’t know about you but it’s just about the easiest thing in the world for me to become complacent in this life. It’s so easy for me to go through the motions and completely miss out on the fact that I was given this day for a reason. I scroll through the feeds, sit through the classes and the countless hours studying, failing to realize one thing.We have not arrived.Everyone has not been saved; there are still places in this world, cities, suburbs, even whole countries that have still never heard the name “Jesus.” There are still friends, family members, brothers and sisters that have yet to find their place at the table in heaven.I forget that The Great Commission, the one thing Jesus left for us, the one thing He asked of us, has not been fulfilled yet. Often times I'm too busy putting the weight of the task on others that I forget that I play just as big a part in this COmmission.“Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things.” -Colossians 3:2What if we looked at our relationship with Jesus and with others with a sense of urgency? Let me put it this way: what if we looked at our relationship with Jesus and with others like we do our phone batteries on 1%? Why do we put so much worth in the things of this world when humans, our relationships, are the only things ascending into heaven? Honestly take a minute and think about this: our Instagram feeds are not going to heaven with us. Our houses are not going to heaven with us. Our cars, jobs, Facebook pages, twitter profiles, clothes, shoes, and money, not one of these will be making the ascent into our eternal Home with us.So what will be there?Each other.You see, heaven is a place where relationships rule and God’s love stretches as far as the eye can see. There will be no more pain, no more suffering, no more comparison or insecurities. God gave us brothers and sisters to walk through this life with, along with all of its ups and downs. Why? Because we were never meant to do this alone. There’s so much more to be done, and there is a call on our lives that requires us to lift our heads up from the depths of the 5x3 inch piece of technology laying in our palms that so tightly grips our attention long enough to notice all that has yet to be done. Until that day when Jesus returns to earth, there will always be an unreached person, an unreached city, or an unreached country that so longs to be strikingly delivered from the chains and shackles that come with not knowing the name of a Friend and Savior, “Jesus.”So look up, shine your light as far as you possibly can. Remember, even amidst all the chaos in this world, as long as we make the decision to keep stepping out in faith with Jesus, the Kingdom will continue to advance forward.
