Heart and Hand.
My heart and hand were taken to a sacred place this morning. I was reminded that Christ takes delight in me and invites me to take part of His kingdom. He loves spending time with me and enjoys when I, His daughter, use the creative melody that He has placed within my hand of writing. He smiles and cherishes when His beloved creation uses creativity to bring Him praise. For everything that my finite mind could fathom is swept away when Jesus reminds and shows me His nature and character. With such things being said, I was lead to write this poem that relates how when we as children of God let go and are led completely by Him, we open ourselves to experience biblical promises that are free and meant for us. By quiet streams, You guide my heart and handLeading me to ease and peace once again.Realigning all that needs to be straightenedand brought back to the center of You.In the solitude of this abiding,I can feel my heartbeat rest,my inner soul inhale, exhale. By quiet streams, You guide my heart and handRelieving the weighty burdens upon my shoulders.Walking and talking with You I come alive,I see the beauty, grace, and mercy that Youhave set before me.No longer do I see the darkness, but only light and security. By quiet streams, You guide my heart and handRelinquishing all my doubts for tomorrow.Trusting in the wonder of your power,I can let go, today and forever.Crafter of my future, Author of my storyYou are mine and I am Yours. By quiet streams, You guide my heart and handSummoning patience and compassion in my once dry core.Softening the cold stone of a heart and making flesh,You show me how to love completely and fully. And Oh how wonderful, this thing of love is,Such a gift to practice moment by moment. By quiet streams, You guide my heart and handYielding strength and courage for the day of battle.Beckoning a spiritual warrior from the depths,Awakened I will walk with Christ's righteousness asthe breastplate about me. No fear is in this,No, not one tremble in the face of war-- Complete Trust. By quiet streams, You guide my heart and handMaking my life a place of Your dwelling.Listening to Your whispers, I willwait on You. Here I am wrappedin Your glory, no longer wandering,Oh, Lord be my sanctuary. words by Joy Johnston and photo by Leah Van OtterlooSaveSave
