What Music Are You Creating?

‘I will sing and make music with all my soul’ (Psalm 108:1)All of us carry a song. Our lyrics are our stories, words of hopes, dreams, challenges, disappointments, heartbreaks, the people we've met and the places we've been. Our melodies are the tunes of our hearts, the way we feel, the way we love, the way we hurt.Without even meaning to, we all project a song. Our lives create a harmony that is audible to those we encounter each day.So, what music is your life creating?Our songs might not always be in tune, they might not always be easy on the ear. That's ok.But let's aim for melodies of forgiveness, love and grace, not condemnation, judgement and jealousy.‘awake harp and lyre!’I believe God is calling us to carry his song, and He’s given us a voice to project it.It’s important to note that this might look different for each person. Your song won't sound exactly like your friends.If you’re anything like me, the idea of street evangelism might make you want to curl up in a ball. But I want to encourage you that you don’t need a megaphone to project your song.Your song doesn’t have to be shouted, it can resound the clearest in our actions. Your gentle spirit, a loving, honest heart in pursuit of God, this is evidence of God working in you. If you are living life with Jesus, your song will be heard by those around you, simply by how you live your life.I truly believe that the most authentic and powerful evangelism is simply an overflow of your love for God in response to the grace He’s shown you. It doesn’t come from a place of obligation, something we are told we must do, it’s a response to what God did for us on the cross.So don't worry about shouting about your love of God, you never know the impact that your song will have on those you didn't even know were listening.So be loud if you want, be quiet if that's more you.Don't worry about the volume.Just make your music my sweet friend.words by Ella Connolly and photo by Clara Espe
