The Four Words You May Need To Hear.

You can do it.

There are your four words. And, you may have really needed to hear them.

“You can do it” is a phrase that we shy away from because it implies a tone of self-sufficiency—that God is not included in the equation. Here’s the thing: You can do it. And, that’s not because you’re capable but because God is infinitely more than able.

Whatever “it” is, God has equipped, trained, and prepared you. Although you may not feel like you’re in any of those three positions, you can count on a God who faithfully works within and through us.

More than often, the enemy is stinking good at making us believe that we are the worst. He is crafty with our weaknesses. He is an expert of manipulating our identities. He is incredible at digging back up our sin. Satan has earned these attributes; however, we have the power within us to laugh and thank him for reminding us of Jesus—the One who enabled us to accomplish anything in His name.

Dear friends, this comes from a girl who is still trying to buy into the four worded phrase.

I feel like the second semester of my senior year at college has thrown the most whammies at me more than any other semester. My second semester of senior year feels like I’ve slammed on the breaks, sending me in a hard, forward jolt. Insecurities about the future crash in waves over me. Even though I have been confident in my choice of major thus far, I've started to question if I’ve done everything right up until this point. I claw my trust out of God’s hands, right back into where I feel in control. I sit with my fear and anxiety, telling myself “I can’t do it.” What I cannot grasp is how the enemy delights in this, further pressing into my own doubt: “You're right, you can’t do it.”

And without God, Satan is right. We cannot do whatever “it” is.

However, God has the attribute of relentlessness. When we give up, He relentlessly challenges us to get up. When we begin to doubt ourselves, He relentlessly eases us to have faith.

Maybe your “it” is searching for a job. Or receiving a passing grade on an enormous school assignment or test. Maybe your “it” is just having the courage to do something you have never done before. Or facing a fear that that has held you down for so long. Maybe your “it” is finally making the choice to cut ties with that toxic thing or person in your life.

Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 12:10, “That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

Our Dad is more than capable to take our weaknesses and to turn them into masterpieces for His glory. When we recognize how unbelievably sovereign God is, we can have confidence in the strength He gives us to accomplish anything He sets before us.

Whatever it is, tell yourself: “I can do it.” And while you’re at it, let the enemy know, too.
